What we’re doing to make our event (and planet) a little greener and give back to the local community.

Sustainability Graphic

Our dedication to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles encompasses a wide array of initiatives that span before, during, and after the Halloween & Party Expo, as well as within our own organization, Clarion Events. This commitment is evident in our long-standing focus on diversity, the implementation of our attendee code of conduct, our on-site philanthropic endeavors like Clarion Cares, and our ongoing efforts to reduce waste at our events. We wholeheartedly embrace ESG principles and actively incorporate them into all facets of our operations and events. Our aim is to minimize our environmental impact, promote inclusivity and diversity, and contribute positively to the well-being of local communities.

ENVIRONMENTAL

Our team and vendors are committed to reducing environmental impacts, both now and in the future, at every Halloween & Party Expo event we host. We proactively seek ways to minimize the environmental footprint of our events by implementing sustainable practices in logistics, transportation, venue energy sources, waste management, food and beverage waste, and the materials displayed throughout the event. Additionally, we provide attendees and exhibitors with the opportunity to purchase carbon offsets to reduce their own carbon emissions.

SUSTAINABILITY

At the Halloween & Party Expo, our mission is to create a transformative journey that embodies sustainability at every step. Our steadfast dedication to driving meaningful change is closely aligned with our valued partners, suppliers, venues, and dedicated team members. Together, we are shaping a more sustainable and vibrant future from start to finish.

Sustainability at The Expo at World Market Center Las Vegas

Sustainability has been a key element of The Expo at World Market Center Las Vegas since inception. Approximately 96.91% of construction debris has been recycled, with 11,000 tons of existing asphalt has been repurposed into the center’s current design.

The Expo at World Market Center Las Vegas proudly boasts its Green Globes certification, which demonstrates its commitment to:

  • Energy conservation

  • Lowered water consumption

  • Responsible use of materials

The sustainability efforts extend beyond the walls of The Expo at World Market Center Las Vegas. Not only do they offer high-occupancy vehicle parking, but they are located within ¼ mile radius of two (2) public transit routes and encourage guests and team members alike to use these alternative modes of transportation.

Sustainability at Sodexo - Our Food Vendor

Reducing Carbon Emissions

Sodexo is committed to reducing its carbon emissions by 34% by 2025, aligning with the goal to limit global temperature rise to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. They're taking action to improve both direct (Scope 1 and 2) and indirect (Scope 3) emissions, with a focus on their supply chain and client site services. Their responsible sourcing strategy ensures positive impacts on individuals, communities, and the environment.

Half of Sodexo’s carbon emissions come from its supply chain, primarily from commodities such as meat and dairy products, palm oil and paper, which also drive deforestation. Ensuring every dollar they spend will create a positive impact on individuals, communities and the environment is at the heart of their responsible sourcing strategy.

The second largest percentage of Sodexo's emissions (46%) comes from the services they provide at their client sites. Sodexo has developed a client site sustainability tool, SEA for a Better Tomorrow, provided at no cost to their clients. SEA enables managers to baseline their performance, suggests best practices, features real-time dashboards and provides client reports to ensure they are meeting client expectations in this space.

Investing in Renewable Energy

As a member of RE100, Sodexo will support renewable electricity infrastructure by purchasing Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) to cover electricity usage at 100% of its directly operated sites. RE100 is a global initiative bringing together the world's most influential companies leading the transition to 100% renewable electricity. Sodexo's ambition is to extend energy management services to their clients, including the use of renewable energy, identifying efficiency projects that generate a positive return on investment, reduce their carbon emissions, and deepen their partnership.

Sodexo is also committed to progressively transitioning away from coal sector projects, as part of their strategy to selectively grow their presence in specific mining markets since 2015; they aim to exit the sector by 2025. They are increasingly supporting diversified energy clients who are willing to shift to new business streams and renewable energies.

VIEW INITIATIVES

Sodexo - Our Food Vendor

Fighting Food Waste

Why is Sodexo tackling food waste? Because they are committed to fighting food insecurity and addressing climate change. If Americans wasted 15% less food, it would be enough to feed 25 million people per year. In addition, we would reduce the environmental impact associated with the production and disposal of food, such as water usage and carbon production. Reducing food waste is one of the most effective tools in addressing climate change.

For Sodexo, fighting food waste is a day-to-day effort. Thanks to the WasteWatch program and its intelligent waste-measurement technology, their teams can rapidly and easily capture food waste data and drive cultural and behavioral change to cut food waste generated in the kitchen as well as that left on their consumers’ plates.
